I took the Olympus Trip out for a spin on Sunday and shot a roll of Kodak BW400. It was slightly unnerving, after years of shooting digital to have no idea at all how the pics were turning out! I found myself becoming far more aware of composition and exposure, but mostly I was just winging it.
It was pretty exciting, in a nerdy sort of way, picking the prints up from the chemist (I'm still nowhere near obsessed enough to attempt developing film for myself .... although it does seem pretty cheap to get started). And the results are; surprisingly good! Everything is a tad over-exposed but not so much that it can't be fixed with some minor tweaking on the PC. The focus is sharp, there's even some nice shallow DOF in places. Not bad for a camera that's sat in the attic for the last 20 years!
Of course, now I've got to figure out this scanning malarkey!
Pics to come soon (with any luck!).
